Jaipur Tour

I recently took a 2-day Jaipur tour package that was perfectly timed and packed with some incredible experiences. Jaipur, famously known as the Pink City, offers a blend of royal history, vibrant culture, and stunning architecture—all of which you can comfortably explore in two days with the right plan.

Here’s a quick rundown of my experience and some useful details if you’re considering a short trip:

Day 1: Exploring the Royal Heritage

  • Started the day early with a visit to the Amber Fort, located about 11 km from the city center. The fort’s massive ramparts and artistic palaces made it feel like stepping back into royal times.
  • Then headed to Jaigarh Fort nearby, known for housing the world’s largest cannon on wheels, “Jaivana.” The views from here over Amber Fort and Maota Lake are breathtaking.
  • Post lunch, I visited the iconic City Palace in Jaipur city itself. The museum inside showcases royal costumes, arms, and artifacts.
  • Ended the day at Jantar Mantar, an 18th-century astronomical observatory with some fascinating instruments still used to measure time and celestial events.

Day 2: Culture and Shopping

  • Began with a visit to the Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds), famous for its unique façade with 953 small windows designed to allow royal ladies to peek outside without being seen.
  • Spent the afternoon wandering through the bustling markets like Johari Bazaar for exquisite jewelry and traditional crafts.
  • Wrapped up with a local Rajasthani dinner at a heritage restaurant to savor authentic flavors.

Unique Facts & Tips:

  • Jaipur was painted pink in 1876 to welcome the Prince of Wales, which is why the city is famously called the Pink City.
  • The Amber Fort’s Sheesh Mahal (Mirror Palace) uses tiny mirrors so that a single lamp light can illuminate the entire room—magical at night!
  • Entry fees vary: Amber Fort (~INR 100 for Indians, INR 500 for foreigners), City Palace (~INR 200), Jantar Mantar (~INR 50).
  • Many tour packages include private car transport for about INR 3000-4000 per day, which I found very convenient.
  • Best time to visit is between October and March when weather is pleasant.

Overall, this short but immersive itinerary gave me a great taste of Jaipur’s grandeur and culture without feeling rushed. If you pick a good package that balances sightseeing with some leisure time, two days are perfect for a quick yet enriching Jaipur experience!
